Job Outline:

The Designer will lead the organization and execution of the entire Pre-Construction Process. They will provide exceptional client relation skills and work in conjunction with the Pre-Construction Manager to provide a detailed project plan for each client’s renovation project. The Designer will be required to communicate seamlessly to effectively execute the detailed final project plan for each client.

Our ideal candidate will embody the qualities and characteristics below and be comfortable with hand drafting and space planning. They will have familiarity with BIM programs (We currently use Chief Architect and 2020 Design Live) and be proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc). They must be independently motivated in project progression, time management, and fulfilling tasks.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and pre-construction planning process in residential remodels and renovations.
  • Oversee and execute design presentations, trade installations, selection meetings, showroom visits, and leading client communication during the pre-construction phase.
  • Source and manage the ordering, tracking, and receipt of all client-approved project material.
  • Track contract expenses and manage project selection allowances. Calculate pricing and develop RFQs, selection proposals, and change order needs.
  • Create and provide detailed plans, elevations, layouts, and renderings for client and construction use.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits for accurate field measurements, project constraints, existing conditions, and check-ins during construction.
  • Source and specify fixtures, finishes, applied materials, and accessories for a complete and comprehensive design plan.
  • Initiate all local permitting requests once a detailed project plan is approved.
  • Coordinate with vendors, clients, subcontractors, McDrake management, and field team for a smooth execution from project conception to completion.
  • Track, organize and stage all project materials.
  • Maintain showroom presentation, samples, and organization.
  • Able to promptly and professionally respond to any hurdles, pivots, and sudden needs that arise with construction.
  • Active role in product research and sourcing as needed.
  • Provide updates to clients as required by applicable communication plans
  • Attend all design review and handoff meetings
  • Organize design/selection documents into each project’s jobsite binder
  • Participation in continued education opportunities as they become available.

Position:

  • Lead and Skilled Carpenter (Interior)
  • Lead and Skilled Carpenter (Exterior)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute carpentry tasks with precision and efficiency, maintaining an exceptional focus on safety.
  • Install and finish various exterior renovation elements such as sunrooms, screen rooms, and decks, adhering to project plans and specifications.
  • Craft and install custom cabinetry, countertops, and other interior features for kitchen and bathroom remodels.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other carpenters to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest of quality standards.
  • Manage and execute all McDrake basic project elements (quality, duration, budget) efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a carpenter, with expertise in exterior renovations and/or kitchen and bathroom remodels.
  • Minimum of 2 years of residential construction experience focusing on custom aspects of kitchen, bathroom, and sunroom renovations.
  • Proficiency in safely using carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and project plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
